Royal Governor's Mansion

The Royal Governor's Mansion of New Jersey is the only remaining proprietary governor's mansion of the original Thirteen Colonies still standing today. Built in the 1760s, it served as the residence gubernatorial residence of William Franklin, Benjamin Franklin's Loyalist son.

Know Before You Go

The Proprietary House is the only remaining royal gubernatorial mansion in the United States. Constructed in the 1760s, the building has changed hands several times and has been a private residence, luxury hotel, and a boarding house over the past two centuries. Today, it has been restored to its former glory and is open for tours on Sundays.
