Limestone Springs Memorial

Three unknown British soldiers wounded at the nearby Battle of Cowpens died here at Limestone Springs and were buried on the land by order of Patriot Captain Vardry McBee Sr. and his wife, Hannah Echols.

Know Before You Go

In May 2012, a marker created by Limestone College trustee and Blakely Funeral Home director Ashby Blakely was revealed by local historian Robert Ivey, with the support of British Revolutionary War re-enactors, during a special memorial service honoring these foreign soldiers.
