Park Day @ Camden Battlefield
Event Location
1606 Flat Rock Rd
Camden, SC 29020
For 29 years, the American Battlefield Trust’s Park Day event has brought volunteers of all ages to our nation’s historic sites and battlefields, readying them for a new season of tours and tourists. Join forces with volunteers from across the country to help their local parks and historic sites tackle maintenance projects both large and small — from raking leaves and hauling trash to painting signs and building trails. It's a fun and meaningful way to lend a hand, and experience the history of The Liberty Trail.
About This Park Day Event
- Meeting place: We will meet at the main parking lot for the battlefield, which is just north of the DeKalb Monument--turn right just after the big sign to access the parking lot. We will meet at 9 am.
- Planned Activities: We will pick up trash along the road and clean up the trails.
- History or Educational Activities: We will offer a guided battlefield tour for all volunteers after work is completed.
- Should I bring any tools or supplies? Wear sturdy shoes, and work gloves are recommended. We also recommend sunscreen, bug spray, and water. (There is no water source at the battlefield.)
- Is there a rain date? In the instance of inclement weather, Park Day will continue as planned.
- Please note: There are no bathroom facilities other than a porta-john. Trails are mulched, but sometimes uneven--may not be suitable for guests with limited mobility.
