Mount Vernon acted as the former plantation estate of the legendary Revolutionary War general, George Washington. The current estate includes the original mansion, gardens, tombs, a working farm, a functioning distillery and gristmill, plus a museum and education center.
Mount Vernon is managed and preserved by the Mount Vernon Ladies' Association, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. On the grounds, one can expect to tour the historic home, Washington's gardens, Washington's library, a visit to a museum dedicated to Washington's life, and several extant buildings on his former estate.
Please visit the Mount Vernon website for up-to-date information on hours.
