The Stephen Hopkins House

Built in 1707, this house belonged to Stephen Hopkins, a signer of the Declaration of Independence, Chief Justice of the Rhode Island Supreme Court, the first Chancellor of Brown University, and Governor of Rhode Island. George Washington visited in 1776 while on his way to Boston, though Hopkins was away at the time.
