Lansdown, also known as the Charles Stewart Plantation, is an 18th‑century historic mansion in Hunterdon County, New Jersey, and closely tied to the Revolutionary War. The oldest section of the house was built circa 1763, when his father-in-law, Justice Samuel Johnston, deeded the land to Colonel Charles Stewart. Between May 1775 and March 1776, Stewart served as a delegate for Hunterdon County at four sessions of the Provincial Congress of New Jersey. Charles Stewart was a Revolutionary War officer and served as commissary general for George Washington’s army. The home is believed to have hosted Ethan Allen, the Marquis de Lafayette, Baron von Steuben, and Gen. William Maxwell. The house and grounds are on private property.
