Long Pond Ironworks

Owned and operated by German immigrants, this site once housed one of the largest ironworks in the colonies that supplied the Continental Army. Started in 1766, it was in operation for over a century.

Historic Tours

Members of the Friends of Long Pond Ironworks offer tours of the furnace area and village area every second Saturday of the month at noon and 2:00 p.m. from April to November

Outdoor Activities

Biking

Mountain biking is permitted on multiuse trails throughout the park.

Boating

Motorboats (10 hp or less) are permitted on the Monksville Resevoir. Only electric motors are permitted on the Green Turtle Pond.

Fishing

Stocked seasonally, the Monksville Resevoir houses trophy size muskellunge, walleye, bass, and trout. A valid New Jersey fishing license is required.

Hiking

Long Pond Ironworks State Park has dozens of miles of marked trails. Please contact the park for more information about trail closures.

Horseback Riding

Visitors of the park may ride horseback on designated multiuse trails.
