Liberty Hall
Historical Marker DatabaseThe Battle of Connecticut Farms took place in June of 1780 and was part of Washington's defense of the second British invasion of New Jersey. Using the Watchung Mountains as a barrier to British movement, the Patriots repeatedly dulled the thrusts of both mercenary Hessian and British regular armies. Near the battle site stands Liberty Hall, the home of the governor of New Jersey at the time and later a member of the constitutional convention.
Liberty Hall now houses a museum run by Kean University - the grounds and building contain exhibits on colonial life and the battle nearby.
